Pylon Floor Lamp

Posable floor lamp

My earliest experiment with movement in light. Taking inspiration from telecommunication pylons, I built a custom expanding mechanism carrying three large petals of light, so the lamp can be posed.

Mechanism

A string pulley retracts the three petals.

The question behind every lamp since: what if light could move? Its expanding mechanism became kumi’s scissor lift.
